Radio Kerry is shortlisted for seven awards at this year’s national PPI Radio Awards taking place in Galway tonight.
The station is nominated for best news story for coverage of the Star Wars shoot on Skellig Michael, best sports story for coverage of last year’s All Ireland Senior Football campaign and best drama for Dáithí McMahon and Fred O’Connor’s programme about the Lusitania. Deirdre Walsh’s Talkabout and Kerry Today presented by Jerry O’Sullivan are nominated in the Best Magazine Programme and Current Affairs Programme categories respectively. Weeshie Fogarty is shortlisted in the sports broadcaster category and there’s also a nomination for station imaging. Radio Kerry is currently PPI Local Radio Station of the Year.
