This year’s King Puck will also be crowned King of the Wild Atlantic Day as Fáilte Ireland gets behind the annual Puck Fair.
Details of the new collaboration between Fáilte Ireland and the organisers have been announced at the launch of the festival that runs from August 10th to 12th.
12-year-old Kerry Lynch from Glounaguillagh National School has been named the Queen of Puck, ably assisted by her lady-in-waiting, Bláthnaid Carney from Killorglin.
Both girls will take part in the parade that begins at the Bridge and winds its way to The Square and Upper Bridge Street and finally onto the Iveragh Road.
Now at least 403 years old, Puck Fair is Ireland’s oldest and longest-running festival and has been taking place in Killorglin since King James I granted legal status to the existing fair in 1603.
