A provisional liquidator has been appointed to bottled water company Kerry Spring.
The liquidator was appointed after the High Court heard the company was insolvent.
It is said that a decision by a major retailer to stop ordering its products reportedly had “a devastating effect” on the company.
Kerry Spring has operated a manufacturing facility at Ballyferriter, west of Dingle, for 25 years.
Up to 35 employees work at the plant; 18 of those positions are said to be full-time.
Údarás councillor Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald told Radio Kerry News that Kerry Spring is a well-respected company and that it is vital to the local economy that these jobs are saved.
The West Kerry councillor also said that management are doing all they can to secure the company’s future.
