« BackProposal to house asylum seekers in Ballybunion not going ahead

A proposal to house asylum seekers in Ballybunion is not going ahead.
Minister Jimmy Deenihan says he has been informed by the Department of Justice.

In recent days persistent rumours have been circulating that a large number of asylum seekers are to be located in Ballybunion.
Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Ferris said he heard numbers ranging from 30 to 183 people.

Meanwhile Deputy Martin Ferris says 6 Syrian refugee families arrived in Kerry on Monday from Lebanon.

A further 6 refugee families from Lebanon are due to arrive in the county in the coming days.
They are here under the resettlement programme for refugees displaced by the conflict in Syria and the wider Middle East.
