« BackPresident Higgins addresses the World Humanitarian Summit

The President Michael D Higgins has called for a profound rethink of international politics to end the global humanitarian crisis.

Speaking at the first ever World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul this morning, he called on the United Nations to act decisively against poverty, conflict, displacement and climate change.

The two-day summit is designed to brainstorm ideas to help solve many of the current problems.

The head of the UN, Ban-Ki Moon, has also created a so-called ‘Agenda for Humanity’ that he wants all countries to stick to.
