Kerry County Council has begun works on the provision of new traffic signals at the junction of Denny Street and The Mall in Tralee.
The works also include upgrading the signals at the junction of Ivy Terrace and Prince’s Quay near the Dominican church.
This is part of preliminary works ahead of creating a two-way traffic flow on Denny Street in the New Year and improved pedestrian facilities on The Mall.
The project is being funded by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, under the Smarter Travel Towns Initiative, and by Kerry County Council.
The preliminary works are scheduled to be completed by the end of November in advance of the Christmas shopping period.
There will be minimal disruption to motorists and traffic flow during the works but pedestrian access will be fully maintained.
The main development works at The Mall including the development of a shared space are scheduled to begin in the New Year.
