A new walkway and cycleway in south Kerry has the potential to create up to 90 jobs, according to Kerrry County Council.
Plans for the €4m greenway along the route of the old railway line from Glenbeigh to Caherciveen are due to be submitted to An Bord Pleanála in the coming weeks. The development, which is subject to planning, has been hailed as a major boost for the Iveragh Peninsula with the potential to generate over €10 million annually for the local economy. Senior planner with Kerry County Council, Tom Sheehy says their research shows the greenway has the potential to attract 90,000 visitors annually. And he says that will translate directly into jobs:
