A meeting with Minister Michael Ring on the future of Post Offices has been described as positive.
Deputies Martin Ferris and John Brassil met with the Minister to discuss the crisis in the sector, particularly in rural Ireland.
Deputy Ferris outlined the crucial role the post office network plays in rural Ireland and the importance it plays in the lives of thousands of people.
Minister Ring assured them that he supports the need for the survival of the network and that he will be bringing concrete measures to cabinet in 2 weeks’ time.
Meanwhile, Rural TDs are launching a Dáil motion aimed at safeguarding the post office network today.
