Ger Kennedy of the Moorings says after seeing ‘The Force Awakens’ it was obvious why Skellig was chosen as one of the locations for the block buster.

The Force Awakens also opened in Kerry cinemas at midnight last night and received positive reviews from fans.

Mr Kennedy predicts an increase in tourists to South Kerry and a boost for the Irish film industry:

Meanwhile a lucky group of schoolchildren from East Kerry involved in this years Junior Entrepreneur Programme are getting to attend a special screening in Killarney this lunchtime.

The group of 10 students representing some participating schools are attending a non alcoholic reception in the Aghadoe Heights Hotel before being transported by limousine to the red carpet event at Killarney cinema.
