There are plans to develop Aras Phadraig in Killarney.
Seven years ago Aras Phadraig was donated to the people of Killarney by the Franciscan Order.
Kerry County Council have issued a request for quotations to carry out a feasibility study and business plan to determine the optimum use for the building on Lewis Road.
It has been used in the past for concerts, public meetings, election counts, a variety of sporting activities and blood donation clinics.
Kerry County Councillor Michael Gleeson says the expected cost of the feasibility study and business plan will be in excess of €300,000.
He says, despite the initial cost, the building will be self-sustaining in the future.
