An Bord Pleanala has granted permission for the development of a hostel at a protected building in Killarney.
The planning appeals board has given the green light for change of use of the building at Aras Agais, 68 New Street from residential/commercial to a hostel.
This will include changes to the front of the structure, renovations to the interiors, an extension to the rear and storage shed.
Applicant Kevin Leahy has been granted permission subject to conditions.
The works are to be carried out under the professional supervision on-site of an accredited Conservation Architect or expert with specialised conservation expertise.
