« BackPhase three of industrial action by Kerry psychiatric nurses deferred for more talks

PNA Psychiatric Nurses AssociationPhase three of industrial action by 130 Kerry psychiatric nurses has been deferred for more talks.

The PNA is involved in a national dispute with the HSE and Department of Health over the retention and recruitment of nurses to the mental health service.

Industrial action was due to escalate this morning to include a ban on overtime by psychiatric nurses, but this was deferred for 24 hours for talks at the Workplace Relations Commission.

Cormac Williams is the spokesman for the Psychiatric Nurses Association in Kerry.

He says if this action goes ahead tomorrow it’ll lead to the closure of many community based mental health facilities around the country, and critical staff shortages in many other areas of the service.
