Lyreacrompane Community Development has applied to Kerry County Council for permission to place large boulders along the eroding edge of the river walkway along the River Smearlagh.

The group is seeking to place a vortex weir upstream to protect from erosion and provide more habitats for fish on the river.

A natura impact statement has been submitted as part of the application.

A decision will be made on October 9th.
