« BackPermission granted for north Kerry quarry

pleanalaPermission has been granted for quarry in north Kerry.

An Bord Pleanala has given the green light subject to revised conditions.

On February 12th last Kerry County Council granted planning permission subject to conditions to Karol Kissane for ten-year permission to operate a quarry at Tullahennel South, Ballylongford.

This also included a borrow pit and retention for a disused borrow pit and quarry.

The borrow pit would be linked to a permitted wind farm development through an upgraded track.

This was appealed by the Concerned Residents of Tullahennel to An Bord Pleanala.

However, the planning appeals board decided to uphold the council’s decision saying the proposed development would not seriously injure the residential amenities of the area or depreciate the value of property in the vicinity and would be in accordance with the proper planning.

It would also not have a significant effect on nearby designated environments.

Conditions of the planning permission include a limit on the hours of operation, environmental controls and a limit on dust.
