« BackPeople in Killarney express shock at sudden death of baby

People in Killarney have expressed their shock at the sudden death of the 11 month old baby in the town.

Main Street, KillarneyIt’s believed the baby boy was discovered by his mother when she returned from work to an apartment at Park Place on Upper High Street, Killarney shortly before 6 o’clock last evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene but attempts to save the child’s life were unsuccessful.

A man in his 30s, believed to be a Polish national, was taken to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee to receive medical treatment; he’s believed to be in a stable condition.

Assistant State Pathologist Margot Bolster is expected to carry out a post mortem on the child’s body later today.

A team from the Garda technical bureau is currently carrying out a forensic examination of the apartment.

Killarney Cllr Donal Grady said the whole town is grieving.
