People are like “drowned rats” at the “crossroads of Kerry”.

That’s according to Councillor Brendan Cronin who said the absence of a bus shelter at Farranfore is “a ridiculous situation in 2016” that people were at “the mercy of the elements”.

At the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council, Cllr Cronin went as far as remarking – if it came to it – he’d cover the cost himself if the green light was given for two shelters on either side of the road.

Bus, train and air services converge at Farranfore and Cllr Cronin said the elderly, students travelling to college and visitors to the county are often left soaked to the skin awaiting bus connections.
