« BackOver three quarters of a million in upgrades for Kerry announced by Irish Water

Almost half a million in funding (€467,000) has been secured for the replacement of three kilometres of asbestos cement and PVC water mains with U-PVC piping from Ballyrameen to Castlemaine.

Kerry Fine Gael Deputy Brendan Griffin has welcomed the works which are to be be carried out by early next year.

It’s one of a number of upgrades announced by Irish Water.

Funding of €140,000 for the replacement of 1.6Km of water mains with uPVC pipe at Cinn Aird has also been announced – this job is to be carried out next year.

Funding of €80,000 for the replacement of PVC water mains with uPVC pipe from the west end to Moriarty Bridge at Portmagee will also be done next year.

In West Kerry, funding of €95,000 for the replacement of 850M of 2” water main with a 110MM uPVC pipe at Dún Chaoin has been allocated by Irish Water.

It is planned that the job may be done in conjunction with road upgrade works in autumn of this year.
