Over a quarter of a million euro in grant funding has been approved for west Kerry.
These funding announcements have come from the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs Seán Kyne has sanctioned an operational grant of €222,870 for Ballyferriter based Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne to cover from last June to May 2017.
Minister Kyne says the group has been doing valuable work aimed at fostering and strenghtening of Irish as the community and household language in Corca Dhuibhne.
Meanwhile, the junior minister also rubberstamped a grant of €10,000 for Amharclann na nÓg- An Lab in Dingle.
This centre promotes the arts in the local community by running classes, concerts, exhibitions and workshops.
Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin said he welcomes the funding.
