Funding of over €3 million has been allocated to the Institutes of Technology in Tralee and Cork.
The money from Enterprise Ireland is for the roll out of the New Frontiers programme at both institutes for the next five years.
New Frontiers is Ireland’s national entrepreneur development programme, which is delivered at a local level by ITs.
New Frontiers provides budding entrepreneurs with supports including funding of up to €20,000, office space, mentoring, and workshops to accelerate their business development.
The aim is to equip participants with the skills and contacts they need to successfully start and grow a company.
Enterprise Ireland also works in partnership with the institutes on the programme.
Since New Frontiers started in 2012, the Institutes of Technology in Tralee and Cork have supported 88 start-ups in the region.
This new funding announcement sees €3 million going towards the running of the programme at both Tralee and Cork Institutes of Technology over the next five years.
