« BackOver a quarter of a million euro allocated to rural recreation projects in Kerry

WalkwayOver a quarter of a million euro in funding has been allocated to Kerry for rural recreation projects.

It’s part of a €4 million announcement by Minister of State for Regional Economic Development at the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural, and Gaeltacht Affairs, Michael Ring.

Kerry Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin, Leas-Cathaoirleach and Fine Gael Kerry Senator, Paul Coghlan and Independent TD Michael Healy Rae welcomed the funding which will facilitate the development of new recreational facilities and the maintenance of existing ones across 75 projects throughout Ireland.
Funding has been allocated to four local authority projects in Kerry.

Kerry County Council is to get €120,000 for the Killorglin Loop Walk Development; €23,000 will go towards viewing and seating at Coom A Ciste, Caherdaniel; €25,000 will be spent on beaches in Kerry for a Blue Flag Beaches study; while €49,000 is for access enhancement at Ballinskelligs Beach.

Two local development company projects in Kerry have also been allocated funds.

South Kerry Development Partnership is to get over €8,600 (€8,648.45) to develop a trail in Annascaul, and over €6,400 (€6,452.40) for a trail in Keel, Castlemaine.
