ITTThe outgoing acting Chairman of the Governing Body of IT Tralee is welcoming the appointment of a permanent Chairman after three years.

Kerry County Councillor Terry O’Brien has been filling in in the role since Flan Garvey retired in 2013.

Mr Garvey was investigated for plagiarism in his Master’s thesis; it was found that he plagiarised, but it was unintentional.

Last evening the Education Minister Richard Bruton announced that Lionel Alexander, a former CEO of HP Ireland, had taken up the post.

Cllr O’Brien says the appointment will bring stability.

Councillor Terry O’Brien says funding will always be an issue for the education sector.

He says however, that Minster Richard Bruton must find funding to push forward with the Munster Technological University status, which is vital for Tralee and Kerry.
