That night, up to 40 cars parked outside the cinema on Dan Spring Road were issued with 40 euro fines for parking illegally.
Kerry County Council said parking on both sides of Dan Spring Road, near Omniplex Tralee, happens regularly, and that this is a traffic hazard which restricts space and access on to footpaths.
It says it’s been monitoring the situation and this week erected signs advising people not to park on footpaths otherwise fines would be issued.
The council says it’s obliged to deal with parking matters and ensure there are no obstructions on pavements and that it’s discussed this with cinema management.
There’s been a rise in cinema attendance on Tuesday nights in Tralee as a result of a special offer to customers.
Omniplex Tralee would not comment officially.
However, a representative said it had been contacted by Kerry County Council before last Tuesday night.
Omniplex Tralee said on Tuesday evening, two staff members were in its car park to let people know that there was no more parking space and that they could park in the Brandon Car Park.
This car park is a ten minute walk from the cinema.
The cinema also said it had two signs in its own car park which stated: Car park full, use the Brandon Car Park.
