RoadA group of residents in North Kerry are calling for repairs to a road they say is like a jigsaw puzzle.

A deputation made a presentation to the Listowel Municipal District meeting about the 2.8km of secondary road at Knockalucca, Duagh following an invitation by Cllrs Mike Kennelly and Aoife Thornton.

Council management say because the road has been heavily repaired due to severe potholes, it requires strengthening which would cost €245,000; and there’s no money for it, as the programme for the year ahead has been finalised.

The council is to immediately open gullies on the sides of the road to stop surface water from gathering and creating more potholes.

Local man Dan Carmody says cars continuously need repair work because of damage caused by the surface, and while they understand there isn’t money for all the work, they’d like to see the worst section done.
