North America is now the largest source market of overseas visitors to Kerry.
Research undertaken by Kerry County Council has revealed North American visitors total 40% of all overseas visitors to the county.
Latest estimates suggest one in every three Americans visiting Ireland include Kerry in their itinerary.
This compares to one in eight mainland Europeans and one in 16 visitors from Britain.
Visitors from other parts of the world also show a relatively high rate of inclusion of Kerry in their travel plans during their stay in Ireland.
It’s currently estimated that one in every six visitors from China, Australia, New Zealand and other destinations to Ireland, included Kerry in their itinerary.
Elsewhere, visitors from mainland Europe make up approximately 35% of Kerry’s tourism market.
The council’s research also found the relative importance of the British market has slipped, as it now accounts for under 25% of overseas visitors to Kerry.
