Kerry General Hospital says non-urgent patients may now experience significant delays in the Emergency Department.
This is due to an increased level of activity.
Management at the hospital are asking the public to contact their GP in the first instance if their needs are not urgent.
They add that every effort is being made to address the situation and patient care is paramount.
Yesterday, 12 patients were on trolleys in the hospital’s emergency department according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
