Newly elected Kerry TD John Brassil says Fianna Fáil will put a Minister for Rural Affairs in cabinet if they’re in government.
The role, introduced by the outgoing government, was a Junior Minister position.
The Ballyheigue deputy says his party will ensure that rural areas are given the same employment and economic opportunities as urban ones.
Speaking to Radio Kerry, the Fianna Fáil TD says it’s essential a Rural Affairs Minister sits in cabinet.
Deputy Brassil also says no talks have yet taken place between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, and he believes a workable option has to be found to stop another election being called.
