49-year-old Matt O’Connor, ran on stage during the Cavan Rose Lisa Reilly’s interview with Dáithí Ó Sé; he was taken to Tralee Garda Station and was later released without charge.

Chicago Rose Maggie McEldowney, who was crowned the 58th Rose of Tralee in the Dome last night, says it was unfair on Lisa, and she deserves an apology.

Speaking to Radio Kerry today, 27-year-old Maggie McEldowney, who works as the Director of Development in a Chicago high school, didn’t want to be drawn on the views expressed by the Sydney Rose, saying the Rose of Tralee should be kept apolitical.

On Monday night, Sydney Rose Brianna Parkins called for the eighth amendment of the Constitution on abortion to be repealed.

Meanwhile, nine-year-old Kate Fitzsimons from Tralee, who was Maggie’s Rose Bud, says she’s delighted her Rose won the title.

Elsewhere, the bar in the Dome had to be closed for 10 minutes last night, and admissions stopped for health and safety reasons.

Rose of Tralee festival organisers say the bar became unstable because it’s a temporary structure.

It was closed until made safe, and no additional people were let in while this was taking place, however when this was rectified the bar and admissions reopened.
