« BackNew mobile phone app to enhance Kerry Way

Photo: Don MacMonagle   Now in its 10th year the Kerry Way Cancer Research Walk is a fundraising event that has gone from strength to strength contributing over €600,000 to Cork Cancer Research Centre helping researchers to translate lab discoveries into new cancer treatment opportunities for poor prognosis and incurable cancers. The three day walk along the scenic Kerry Way takes walkers from Caherdaniel, along the Kenmare River and finishing in the Killarney area on Sunday. The first phase of the folklore and heritage app has been launched and covers from Lord Brandon’s Cottage in the Black Valley to Glencar.
The app is the brainchild of the Kerry Folklore Committee and been funded by LEADER, the INERREG Rural Alliances project, The Heritage Council and Kerry Group.
Seán de Buitléar is from South Kerry Development Partnership, which helped develop the app.
He says it is hoped to include the whole Kerry Way on the app in the future:
