Meath man Peter Bellew, who was a former general manager of the facility in Farranfore, had worked with Ryanair before being headhunted for Malaysia Airlines. The government’s Airport and Aviation strategy includes the end of capital funding aside from safety and security measures and the phasing out of operational grants over a 10 year period. The current public service obligation routes also end in 2018. Mr Bellew says Kerry Airport has been well managed with great foresight and strong business sense and he expects this to continue:
