He is Tom Myers, who was recently promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent as part of a major reshuffle in the senior ranks of Gardai in Cork and Kerry.
He’ll replace Chief Supt Con Cadogan, who was appointed to head up the Kerry Division just last August.
Chief Supt Myers is a native of Gurranabraher in Cork City and won a Scott Medal Award for bravery in 1988.
He is expected to take up the new role on December 13th.
Meanwhile, it’s understood that Chief Cadogan will be moving back to Bandon in his native West Cork.
