The new Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council says our Oireachtas members need to be invited to quarterly meetings to help address issues in the county.
Cllr Michael O’Shea says there is a lengthy waiting list in the county for social housing and the elephant in the room is how quickly the council can deliver the units needed.
The Fianna Fail councillor says other avenues to acquire housing such as disused properties, which would be suitable for the elderly and single people, must be explored.

Meanwhile, the Kerry County Council Cathaoirleach says politics needs to be taken out of the proposed multi-million south Kerry Greenway.
The council is holding information days in Caherciveen on the route today and tomorrow.
