A time honoured tradition returns to West Kerry today as Dingle Regatta gets underway.
This annual celebration of skill will see local boat-men and women compete in Dingle Harbour in the traditional four person naomhóg on the Atlantic waves.
Rowers from Dingle, Maharees, Brandon and throughout West Kerry will compete across two days – joining inter county teams from Donegal and Clare.
U-12s to U-18s of Cumann Rámhaíochta Corca Dhuibhne are competing today with the senior bouts – including the Four-Man Namhóg Championship of Kerry taking place tomorrow.
Conor Haughey, the son of late Taoiseach Charles J Haughey will fire the opening shot of the Kerry Championship races this Sunday.
