The new MRI Scanner will be commissioned at University Hospital Kerry over the next couple of weeks.
That’s according to Kerry TD Brendan Griffin, who raised the matter in the Dáil as to when the Scanner would be operational.
In response to Deputy Griffin, Manager of University Hospital Kerry, TJ O’Connor, said the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Unit is owned and fully operated by an external provider.
He said the only thing delaying its full commissioning been the planning process and the logistical arrangements around the housing of the MRI Unit.
Mr. O’Connor said that these matters are now in place and the unit will be commissioned over the next couple of weeks, adding that there are no staff resourcing issues involved.
Deputy Griffin welcomed this progress, saying the new MRI Scanner is a boost to University Hospital Kerry.
