The mother of a boy, who was injured at birth at Kerry General Hospital, says it’s been a long and difficult fight for her son’s rights.
Yesterday 12-year-old Jerry Daly of Clogher Drive,  Lixnaw through his mother Edwina settled his case against the Health Service Executive.

Although the HSE did not admit liability, a settlement was agreed.

Under the terms, Jerry Daly will receive 1.75 million euro of an interim payment and in six years’ time, the HSE is to pay for 100% of his care, equipment, therapy etc that he will need for the rest of his life.

The boy’s mother, Edwina Daly,  said that no settlement or monies will bring back the life that Jerry would have had otherwise.

Ms Daly said her only hope was that her son  will have a long life where he is well cared for at all times.

She said she was fortunate to have a supportive family and friends and paid tribute to her legal team.
