There’s more air pollution caused in Ireland by backyard burning than all of the electricity-producing plants combined.
That’s according to the Environmental Awareness Officer with Kerry County Council.
Back yard burning regulations mean anything that is considered waste cannot be burned including hedge cutting and grass.
There are certain limited exceptions for landowners and farmers.
Fines of up to three thousand euro can be imposed if you are caught burning waste in your garden.
