Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Eoghan Murphy is leading an investigation into how costs have risen by 40 percent in the past year.

The Joint Committee on Finance has begun hearings this afternoon – and it’s heard that four sub-groups will look at Insurance premiums, the availability of data on insurance, the cost of claims and issues like fraud and uninsured drivers.

Killorglin man Kian Griffin, who previously organised a national protest over the increase in premiums, will meet with the committee tomorrow.

Minister Murphy says the public will have to be patient – and he hit out at the lack of data provided by insurers.
