The sod will be turned this morning on the new €30 million water treatment plant at Lough Guitane near Killarney.
Minister of State for Housing and Urban Renewal, Damien English will officiate at the ceremony at Muckross School House at 10.30.
Glan Agua Ltd was awarded the €30 million contract in June for the upgrade of the largest public water supply in the county, the Kerry Central Regional Water Supply Scheme.
The work includes the development of a new water treatment plant at Lough Guitane near Killarney, and upgrades to existing water infrastructure on the supply, servicing 62,000 people on nine water supply zones in the county.
The new facility will provide 51 million litres of water per day to the communities it serves.
