The Minister for Transport says there are a number of outstanding issues with the €4 million greenway proposed for south Kerry.
It’s expected that the greenway – running from Glenbeigh to Caherciveen – is likely to incur costs beyond the funding which has been sanctioned by the government.
A workshop involving experts from the UK, the Department of Transport and Kerry County Council is taking place this week to try to resolve outstanding matters.
Issues with route selection at Mountain Stage near Glenbeigh have arisen, according to Minister Paschal Donohoe.
The minister told Deputy Tom Fleming that there was no allowance for land acquisition costs and that the entire project could run over budget.
