« BackMinister says confidence must be built around proposed Munster Technological University

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard BrutonThe Education Minister says the Government doesn’t have all the solutions when it comes to industrial unrest.

Richard Bruton made the comments ahead of his visit to Kerry this evening for the Education and Training Boards of Ireland conference in Killarney.

Minister Bruton says the way to resolve the issues with Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann is to use avenues such as the Workplace Relations Commission.

He says the State will not be opening the cheque book in these cases:


Meanwhile, the Education Minister expects to announce the new Chairperson of the Governing Body of IT Tralee shortly.

Richard Bruton thinks the Technological University concept is very exciting and is important to grow business in Kerry and Cork.

Plans are in the pipeline to merge IT Tralee and Cork Institute of Technology to create the Munster Technological University.

He says he can understand the uncertainty about the plan expressed by members of the Teachers Union of Ireland and other stakeholders, which needs to be addressed:
