A Vodafone mast has been switched on in Moyvane in an effort to solve the ongoing problems being experienced by customers in the area.
As a result Vodafone says local residents will see an improvement in their service in the area.
The development is a result of a lengthy consultation process with Vodafone and the organisation of a public meeting with Vodafone representatives in May.
The meeting organised by Minister Jimmy Deenihan allowed affected customers to share their concerns.
At the May meeting the country’s biggest mobile phone operator said the problem with phone reception and coverage in North Kerry was ‘unprecedented.’
Welcoming the announcement Minister Deenihan says the inadequate coverage in recent times led to the loss of business for some and much inconvenience.
He says this is a significant development and hopes it will resolve the problems with coverage.
