« BackMinister describes Mary Keane as “John B’s greatest inspiration”

Minister for the Diaspora Jimmy Deenihan, has expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Mrs Mary Keane who passed away this morning.

Deputy Deenihan said that Mrs Keane was a very close friend of his and will be dearly missed by many in the community.

The Minister also said Mrs Keane was a great support to her late husband John B Keane throughout his career and that the Listowel playwright often credited her with being his greatest inspiration.

Throughout her life, Mary continued to promote her husband’s work by attending new productions of his plays all over the country.

She was also a leader in the establishment of Áras Mhuire community nursing home in Listowel.

Minister Deenihan told Radio Kerry News, that Mrs Keane was a unique person in so many ways.
