« BackMinister confirms upgrading Killarney Fire station a government priority

The government has promised that upgrading Killarney Fire station is a priority.


Responding to a Dail question from Kerry TD Brendan Griffin, the Minister for the Environment confirmed that an upgrade of the station is provided for in the Programme for Government.

Simon Coveney explained that under the five year Fire Services Capital prgramme, sixteen new fire stations are to be built in the coming years,with ten, including Killarney, set to be upgraded.

The Minister estimates the total cost of the works at Killarney Fire station will cost €440,000, and the project is listed as a priority within the department of the Environment.

The Kerry Fine Gael Deputy has welcomed the Minister’s response and is hopeful that works at the station can begin shortly.
