« BackMEP supporting proposal to add €500 million to emergency support package for dairy farmers

Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune is supporting a proposal of the EPP group in the European Parliament to add €500 million to the emergency support package to help dairy farmers suffering from falling milk prices.

The MEP previously called on the Commission to increase the intervention price of milk as a number of factors continue to impact on the market – such as Russia’s import ban and higher milk production levels since the abolition of the quotas.

The amended budget proposals will come before the European Parliament on October 28th.

MEP Clune says it’s time the European Commission listened to farmers.
