« BackMEP says further action may be needed to alleviate farm crisis

Sean Kelly MEPFurther action to alleviate the farm crisis may be needed.

That’s according to Ireland South MEP Seán Kelly who was speaking following proposals by the European Commission.

The Fine Gael MEP said while there is reluctance to increase the Intervention Safety Net price, an increase could be introduced as an interim measure for six months.

The situation could then be reviewed for effectiveness after that time.

The Superlevy could also be used to ease pressure on dairy farmers he added, by extending the repayment deadline.
