Kerry County Council is meeting with CIE later this week to discuss the Tralee to Fenit cycleway.
However, the local authority says it currently has no resources for the project. The matter was raised by Sinn Fein Cllr Pa Daly at the monthly meeting of the Tralee Municipal District where he called on the council to self fund a gravel cycle path on the former Tralee to Fenit line. Council management said they are meeting representatives from CIE this Friday to discuss the final transfer of land to them. The council will also have to undertake various planning requirements before the plan can be progressed and as such it is premature to discuss funding. Elsewhere the 2.7 million euro Tralee Active Travel project from IT Tralee to Brewery Road is progressing the meeting heard with the local authority engaging with local landowners. Funding for this development is secured.
