Minister for the Irish Diaspora Jimmy Deenihan TD has described Maureen O’Hara, who passed away yesterday, as “a great ambassador who defined Irishness”.

The Quiet Man, in which the silver screen legend starred in alongside John Wayne, was actually based on a North Kerry short story written by Maurice Walsh of Ballydonoghue, Lisselton.
