A man was brought to Kerry General Hospital this afternoon following a rescue operation on Killarney’s Ross Island.
The man, believed to be walking near Library Point at the time, was said to have sustained an injury to his leg.
Kerry Mountain Rescue was contacted about the incident at approximately 11.45am.
Shannon Rescue Helicopter 115 was tasked to assist in the operation but was unable to land due to forestation in the area.
Following assessment an HSE Ambulance Crew and Kerry Mountain Rescue at the scene, the man was taken by boat to Ross Castle by a local fisherman who happened to be in the vicinity at the time.
The transfer was overseen by Kerry Mountain Rescue.
The man was then transferred by ambulance to Kerry General Hospital.
