A man is appearing before Killorglin District Court today in relation to an alleged incident involving a high speed chase in Killarney yesterday.
A man, in his 30s, was arrested yesterday following a high speed chase which ended in a crash in a residential estate.
Gardaí received a report that a white commercial van had been stolen in Keel, Castlemaine.
Gardai organised a checkpoint at Beaufort Bridge where a driver of a vehicle, matching the description of the stolen van, refused to stop.
The vehicle fled towards Killarney and was seen driving on the wrong side of the road in Park Road and Muckross Road.
The 20 minute chase ended at around 3pm when Gardaí mounted a roadblock and the driver of the van crashed into the garden wall of a house in the Woodlawn Estate.
The man was subsequently questioned at Killarney Garda Station and was detained overnight. He was held under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
The man appeared before Killorglin District Court at 12.30pm today.
