A 23 year old man was charged with 2 counts of rape before Kenmare District court today.
Superintendent Flor Murphy told Judge James O’Connor that a charge of burglary against Anthony Hussey of Ardsheelin Sneem was being withdrawn on the direction of the DPP.
A 23 year old man was charged with two counts of rape of a woman in September 2014. The defendant was charged under section 48 of the offences against the person act and section 2 of the criminal law act. Solicitor for the defendant Padraig O’Connell told Judge O’Connor that his client had lost his job was living with his sister and had no financial means. The defendant was granted bail on a cash surety of €500 and a bond of €2,500 on condition that he surrender his passport, sign on with Kenmare Gardai three times a week and be subject to a curfew between the hours of 10pm and 5am. The case was adjourned to Kenmare District Court on the 2nd of October for the service of the book of evidence.
