The awards for SuperValu TidyTowns winners in the South West and Mid-West region for 2015 were presented yesterday, at a prize-giving ceremony in the Listowel Arms, Listowel.
The winners were presented with their awards by Minister for Disapora Affairs, Jimmy Deenihan T.D.
The overall winner for the region was Listowel.
Gold Medals were also presented on the night to other Kerry towns such as Kenmare, Killarney, and Tralee. Sneem received the silver medal, while Knightstown on Valentia Island received the Bronze Medal.
Portmagee received the ‘highly commended’ honour in the Diversity Award and Kilgarvan received an ‘Endeavour’ award for achieving the greatest improvement in score.
Interest in the SuperValu TidyTowns competition has been stronger than ever in recent years and for the fifth year running over 800 communities entered the competition, a record 862 participating in 2015.
